Introduction Week at WUST

At the end of September 2026 during Introduction Week we have welcomed the fifth cohort of students to the Sustainable Biomass and Bioproducts Engineering (SBBE) programme as they begin their studies at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. This intake marks a new stage for the programme: it is supported by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) through the NAWA KATAMARAN project.

The students have arrived in Wrocław to begin an international study journey across Poland, Spain and Finland. Over the next two years, they will explore sustainable engineering in the fields of biomass and bioproducts, alongside other areas of chemical engineering. The programme combines academic and professional development with opportunities to discover the cultures of the three partner countries.

On 30 September, the students took part in the SBBE Welcome Ceremony, where they met faculty members and representatives of the consortium. The ceremony was led by Associate Professor Izabela Pawlaczyk-Graja, SBBE Project Coordinator. Professor Joanna Cabaj, Vice-Dean for Education at the Faculty of Chemistry of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, officially and warmly welcomed the students. Local coordinators from WUST, the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) and LUT University then introduced the students to their universities and the next stages of their studies.

The fifth cohort is now ready to embark on its academic journey. We wish our new students every success and look forward to seeing them grow into the next generation of SBBE graduates.
