TURKU TRIP

On Wednesday, August 27th, the SBBE Cohort 3 students went on a trip to the Herrankukkaro archipelago in the Turku region. The trip began with a scenic bus ride from Lahti, upon arrival, they were welcomed with a traditional archipelago drink called “tervaplöro” and learned about the island’s history before being served a genuine Old Fisherman’s Village-style lunch, completed with dessert.

The adventure continued with a fyke boat trip to the Alcohol Cave of the Smuggler King, where students climbed rocky paths with ropes to explore the smugglers’ cave, and in the afternoon, they attended a lecture by Professor Jolanta Warchol. In the evening, students enjoyed a relaxing sauna session on the hotelship Arkkipelagus, followed by the exciting activity of swimming from the pier, and the day concluded with a delicious archipelago buffet dinner featuring local specialties like smoked fish, pickled salmon, herb-marinated herring, and sea buckthorn butter, followed by a satisfying berry dessert. The following morning, a nutritious archipelago breakfast was served before the students attended another lecture from Professor Izabela Michalak and enjoyed one final lunch before departing.
