During the last week of September, 4th intake students had a wonderful opportunity to explore the world of atomic-scale imaging and surface analysis.  It was truly fascinating to see how FIB-SEM works — how precisely it can cut across layers — and how the environmental SEM allows imaging at temperatures from –20°C to +50°C, helping to observe structural changes in samples under different conditions. At the beginning of the third week of September Dr Waldemar Krawczyk gave a series of lectures and practical sessions focused on the analysis of psychoactive substances present in plant-based biomass. Throughout the training, students were able to deepen their understanding of production methods and analytical techniques applied to the study of natural and semi-synthetic drugs derived from coca leaves, cannabis, and heroin. On the 11th of September we proudly celebrated the graduation of the 2nd cohort of SBBE students! The event took place at Wrocław University of Science and Technology and was filled with joy, emotion, and heartfelt speeches from both students and faculty members. The two year journey was transformative — academically, professionally, and personally.  Five students graduated with honors and several announced their intention to continue their academic path by pursuing PhD studies with five people being accepted for Marie Curie

The new academic year of EMJM SBBE programme officially began on 8th of September with the opening ceremony of the 4th cohort students at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The event was filled with excitement, new faces, and inspiring words that set the tone for what lies ahead. Representatives from partner universities from Finland and Spain joined to welcome the new students, along with a Project Officer from the European Commission who connected online to share congratulations and encouragement.

On Wednesday, August 27th, the SBBE Cohort 3 students went on a trip to the Herrankukkaro archipelago in the Turku region. The trip began with a scenic bus ride from Lahti, upon arrival, they were welcomed with a traditional archipelago drink called “tervaplöro” and learned about the island’s history before being served a genuine Old Fisherman’s Village-style lunch, completed with dessert. SBBE 2025 Summer School Poland

The third cohort just started their second semester within the SBBE programme. They left Poland at the end of January to now continue their education at UCLM in Spain.At the official reception students were welcomed by the Vice Rector and the Dean of Faculty of Chemistry. Later they got a chance to enjoy Ciudad Real during the city tour.
