Trekking in Polish mountains
On 12th and 13th October, students from the 3rd cohort of the SBBE master programme had an absolutely amazing time hiking through Sudety Mountains! This was a wonderful activity that formed part of a sports class run by the lovely Karolina Piròg from WUST.
Two days adventure began bright and early at Wroclaw Glowny train station, where the students boarded a train to Szklarska Poręba Górna. As soon as they stepped outside the station, they were greeted by breathtaking views! The weather was also on their side, providing sunny skies and clear views throughout the trip, making it an unforgettable experience.
The trekking covered a few dozen kilometers on foot in the beautiful Karkonosze National Park. It is a gorgeous 55.75-square-kilometre strip that runs along the Polish–Czech border. Students enjoyed the fresh air and stunning scenery. One of the most striking is the cirques, huge hollows that were formed by glaciers during the Ice Age and are surrounded by steep cliffs. The students also had the chance to visit the Municipal Museum of Gerhart Hauptmann’s house – a Nobel Prize winner.
